Technical Standards

Compatible File Formats

Guidelines for preparing files for additive manufacturing.

STL

Standard tessellation format. The most common in 3D printing.

STEP / STP

Parametric CAD exchange format. Ideal for parts with tight tolerances.

OBJ

Wavefront 3D object. Supports color and texture data.
Multicolor: OBJ + MTL + textures (png).

IGES

Surface-based CAD format, for complex geometries.

3MF

3D Manufacturing Format. Modern replacement for STL, with more complete data.

PDF / Images

We also work from technical drawings, sketches, or reference images.

File Preparations

Confirm the model is correctly scaled in mm

Avoid non-manifold geometry, inverted normals, and open meshes

Whenever possible, indicate dimensions (x, y, z) in mm for verification

Specify the intended material and print settings

Export at high resolution for curved surfaces
